Emirates Draw, a prominent lottery operator in the UAE, is realigning its focus towards new gaming verticals after the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) awarded the UAE’s national lottery license to The Game LLC, bypassing Emirates Draw. Despite the setback, Emirates Draw remains optimistic about future opportunities, expressing interest in applying for a second lottery license if available. The company has also announced its plans to transition its weekly draws to an AI-powered random number generator (RNG) to ensure fairness and transparency.
Emirates Draw, alongside Mahzooz, another leading lottery operator in the UAE, had paused its operations as per GCGRA’s directive and submitted its application for the national lottery license. Although disappointed by the decision, Emirates Draw commended the UAE government for its commitment to establishing a regulated gaming industry that prioritizes consumer protection and transparency.
In a statement, Emirates Draw emphasized its achievements over the past three years, during which it awarded over $50 million in prizes to nearly one million players while supporting various community initiatives and environmental causes. This track record, according to the company, reflects its commitment to making a positive impact on society.
Looking ahead, Emirates Draw plans to apply for licenses covering other gaming opportunities, which would allow it to expand its reach and solidify its reputation as a leading global gaming entity. The company is also continuing its operations in other areas, such as running raffles in partnership with organizations like Abu Dhabi’s Big Ticket and Dubai Duty Free. Additionally, the Mega7 prize, one of Emirates Draw’s signature offerings, has been updated to AED100,000.
While there is speculation about the possibility of a second lottery license or sublicensing arrangements, reports suggest that the UAE government currently plans to issue only one national lottery license. However, there may be opportunities for unsuccessful applicants to explore other gaming verticals or to sell UAE Lottery products under a different licensing arrangement.
The application process for the national lottery license was competitive, with an entry fee of AED1 million. In addition to local operators like Emirates Draw and Mahzooz, international lottery operators also expressed interest in managing the UAE Lottery, highlighting the global appeal and significance of the UAE’s gaming market.
As Emirates Draw adapts to this new landscape, the company remains committed to its mission of delivering innovative and responsible gaming experiences. By embracing AI technology and exploring new verticals, Emirates Draw aims to continue its growth trajectory and maintain its standing as a key player in the UAE’s gaming industry.
